Arsenal fans have made a decision on Mesut Ozil after his latest training session with the Gunners.
The German has become an outcast under Mikel Arteta, not playing a single game for the Spaniard since lockdown.
It has seen speculation emerge about the 31-year-old’s future, being pulled out of training with the squad ahead of the north London side’s 3-0 win over Fulham last week.
But footage has emerged of Ozil getting back to his best in the latest session at London Colney.
In the clip, the Gunners are running though a practice game ahead of their London derby against West Ham this Saturday.
Ozil plays a one-two with the young Englishman before suddenly shifting the ball onto this left foot, launching a ball downfield.
Aubameyang is forced to sprint back, having failed to spot defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles running clear.
The full-back reaches the ball to poke it into the back of a small net as Ozil’s team-mates look on in admiration.
This clip earned more than 250,000 views on Arsenal’s official YouTube channel within hours, where the Anfield faithful had taken a different perspective on their midfielder.
“Seeing Ozil in training and still a part of the team warms my heart,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “Happy to see Ozil back in training.” While a third sent a direct message to Arteta over the 31-year-old’s place in the squad.
“I miss this pass from Ozil – hope he gets back in the first team soon,” they said.
And a fourth added: “I want to see Ozil back in the squad.” With a fifth writing: “Nice to see Ozil back enjoying himself.”
It comes as Ozil named his dream team last week – but only featured one Gunners player in his line-up.
While Arsenal’s treatment of the midfielder left his agent Kia Joorabchian furious earlier this month.
