Arsenal fans react to William Saliba’s bold new look ahead of 2020/21 season

Arsenal fans cannot wait to see their new signing in action after William Saliba returned from his one-year loan at Saint-Etienne with Mikel Arteta keen to place him straight into the heart of defence.

Arsenal fans are loving seeing William Saliba with his new look ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The Frenchman was signed last summer from Saint-Etienne but was allowed to stay at the club for another year to continue his development.

At just 18, Arsenal splashed out £27m for his services and the defender has been called one of France’s best talents.

Mikel Arteta is keen on bolstering his backline but may not need to fork out big money with Saliba arriving.

And fans are desperate to see their new man in action while he is also sporting a new look.

Usually known for his gingerish curls, the teenager has cut them all off as he prepares for the new season.

And Arsenal fans are loving his new look, with one saying: “Hope his defending is as sharp as his trim.”

“This trim is no nonsense. Love to see it,” another wrote.

While this fan said: “Nice clean cut hopefully a lot of clean sheets will follow.”

And a fourth predicted: “This head will score against Liverpool in 11 days time.”

“Former hairstyle looked fierce and better,” another quipped.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star Martin Keown has insisted that Saliba will have to earn his way into the starting XI despite Arteta being desperate for defenders this transfer window.

He said in The Independent: “There definitely is [pressure on Saliba].

“It is one of those where I would have been happier if Arsenal had paid more money and brought him in straight at the start of last season.

“There have long-been questions over the Arsenal defence and Saliba was expensive, but he is also young and has not played that many professional games.

“It can’t be expected that he will walk straight into Arsenal, right into the team and be on it from the off.”

Lille star Gabriel Magalhaes is Arsenal’s top target to partner Saliba at the back and the latest looks positive.
