According to The Mirror, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign West Ham United playmaker Felipe Anderson – but for a £5million loan fee.
It’s claimed Anderson is looking to get out of West Ham, and his name was put forward to Arsenal as they look for new signings.
The report doesn’t state what Arsenal’s response to this offer was, but that the loan fee is described as ‘staggering’ suggests they may not be so keen.
The Telegraph noted in August that Arsenal did have interest in a loan deal for Anderson, but it didn’t seem like an active move.
Edu knows Anderson from the Brazilian national team setup, and seemingly wanted to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
West Ham allegedly only wanted a permanent move at that time, so it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal can now be tempted by this loan offer.
Anderson, 27, only registered one goal and four assists and and he only played 89 minutes for the Hammers when football returned in June.
The Brazilian did impress in the 2018-19 season with nine goals and four assists, seemingly justifying the £42million deal West Ham struck to sign him from Lazio.
£5million for a loan may be a little pricey for Arsenal, especially with Willian signed up, but Edu may well be tempted to go back in for the West Ham misfit.
