Arsenal have made FA Cup final hero Ainsley Maitland-Niles available for transfer.
Gunners midfielder Maitland-Niles, 22, played a major part in the Wembley triumph and is rated highly by Mikel Arteta but the club are open to a sale.
It is a bizarre stance but underlines the club needing to make financial decisions and it is likely to alert other Premier League clubs who could move on the versatile former England under-21 international.
Bitter rivals Tottenham are looking for a new right back as they look to sell Serge Aurier this summer while Kyle Walker-Peters is joining Southampton as part of the Pierre-Emile Højbjerg deal.
Everton and Brighton are also interested in Maitland-Niles who was part of England’s under-20s World Cup winning team in 2017.
Maitland-Niles, 22, has three years left on his current deal, has not been pushing to leave and recently told Mirror Football of his determination to be part of Arsenal’s emerging homegrown generation under Arteta.
His performances in the closing weeks of the season also earned him a starting place in the FA Cup final when he filed in at left wing back but was one of their best performers.
Arsenal boss Arteta was full of praise for Maitland-Niles and has subsequently made it clear he wants him to stay – but he could yet be sold.
Arsenal announced 55 redundancies this week, they are still investing in the squad but will also sell players to help raise cash.
Matteo Guendouzi and Sokratis could be part of an exodus as they look to bring in Chelsea ’s Brazilian forward Willian on a free transfer and Lille’s Brazilian defender Gabriel to strengthen key areas.
They are also confident that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a new three year deal as Mirror Sport revealed they will make him a new contract offer this week.
