Arsenal are poised to re-sign Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid, but the Gunners are not done yet in the transfer window
Arsenal are closing in on their second signing of the summer transfer window.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is returning to the Emirates Stadium for another loan spell after impressing after lockdown last season.
In addition, the transfer expert has stated that advanced talks are taking place between the two clubs, with Gunners Mikel Arteta calling Ceballos personally to convince him to return.
An agreement between the clubs is expected, and Ceballos himself has taken to social media and posted a cryptic regarding his future.
On his Instagram stories, he posted a picture of a moving clock, with some fans taking the post as a hint he will be reuniting with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Hector Bellerin very soon.
Ceballos’ return will certainly delight Arteta, who last week outlined his intentions for the Spain international.
“Well, we have some talks and Dani knows really well what I think about him,” he said. “He was pretty clear with me as well that his intention was to remain with us but obviously Real Madrid is involved and I don’t know yet what they want to do with the player.
“But he’s a player that we are interested in because we really saw, in the last few months of the season, what he is capable of bringing to us.”
With Willian already arriving on a free transfer from London rivals Chelsea, the Gunners’ will soon turn their attentions to strengthening the squad in several other areas.
The Gunners are targeting at least one more midfield signing in addition to Ceballos, with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey among the club’s main targets.
However, Atletico are insistent that they will not sell the Ghanaian international unless his buyout clause of £45million is met and have reportedly rejected two swap deal proposals.
Another midfielder being linked with a move to the Emirates is Lyon’s Houssem Aouar who reportedly wants to join a Premier League club this summer, although the Gunners need to raise funds before contemplating a deal.
One transfer that fans have been waiting for an announcement on is Gabriel Magalhaes’ £25m move from Lille.
Although, reports claim there’s no issue with the deal and all that remains is official confirmation from the north London outfit.
The final piece of business that Arsenal’s hierarchy will hope to rubber stamp is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘s new contract.
football.london understands the Gunners are set to agree a three-year contract worth in excess of £250,000-a-week with their club captain.
Arsenal had long been optimistic that the Gabon international would agree to extend his stay but having an announcement will allow the Gunners to push forward with the ambitious rebuild Arteta wants.
