Four Arsenal players Mikel Arteta could sell this summer to fund transfer spree including Coutinho, Willian and Partey

Mikel Arteta may look to ship out some of his fringe Arsenal stars this summer in a bid to raise some much-needed funds to try and sign as many of his transfer targets as possible.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta knows he will have to ship out some players if he is to be successful in this summer’s transfer market.

The Gunners have just finished off a largely disappointing campaign but at least they have some silverware to show for it.

Last weekend’s impressive comeback win against Chelsea sealed a 14th FA Cup triumph and a Europa League spot for next season.

But now the hard work really starts as Arteta looks to improve the Gunners squad and form in the Premier League.

However, despite raking in £25million for clinching Europa League football, there will not be a wealth of funds available this summer.

The likes of Philippe Coutinho, Willian, and Thomas Partey are all being linked with a move to the Emirates, while others are on the shortlist.

First though Arteta will need to raise some more funds and that means selling some players who he deems to be expendable.

Several players have not been up to scratch in recent times but are taking up a large part of the wage bill.

The main recipient of this is Mesut Ozil, who is massively out of favour under Arteta.

The Germany international wasn’t even in the UK for the FA Cup final and Arsenal are keen to get rid of him as soon as possible.

But his £350,000-a-week salary has proved to be a major stumbling block in that department, and he still has another year left on his current deal.

No club will want to pay those kinds of wages for a player who has not even kicked a football for so long, so a season long loan with part of his wages paid could be an option.

As well as Ozil, controversial midfielder Matteo Guendouzi could also go if Arteta gets his way.

The Frenchman barely featured after the restart, following the incident in which he grabbed Brighton striker Neal Maupay’s throat.

After being frozen out by Arteta it would be highly surprising if he was to play in the first-team again.

Unlike Ozil, there would likely be a few takers for the 21-year-old, who looks to have potential.

Right-back Hector Bellerin also faces an uncertain future, with Arsenal reportedly willing to listen to offers for the right-back.

The Spaniard is one of the most liked players in the squad but he has struggled with injury problems over the last couple of seasons.

The 32-year-old Greek defender is into the final year of a £90,000-a-week contract and has hardly featured this year.

Arteta is looking to improve at centre-back and with William Saliba already on his way, there is little room for him at the club on those wages.

Elsewhere, Sead Kolasinac, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding could also go, despite all providing vital contributions to help Arsenal win the FA Cup.
