Mikel Arteta has given the green light for Arsenal to pursue a move for highly-rated Paris Saint-Germain youngster Adil Aouchiche.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has so far refused to commit his future to the Ligue 1 giants, despite having made three appearances for Thomas Tuchel’s senior team this season.
According to ESPN, Aouchiche’s family believe the France Under-17 international’s career would benefit were he to leave his boyhood club and go in search of regular first team football elsewhere.
Saint-Etienne and Lille have held talks with Aouchiche but he is said to be demanding a €4million signing on fee and wages of €25,000-a-week, which is currently representing a major stumbling block.
Arsenal will be operating under severe financial restrictions in the transfer market this summer, but Arteta is said to be keen on rebuilding his squad around young, up and coming stars.
The Spaniard replaced Unai Emery in December and had presided over a significant improvement in the team’s performancs but he is likely to be dealing with a revamped squad from the start of next season.
Reports earlier this week claimed the former Arsenal captain was willing to listen to offers for three of his central defenders, Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Rob Holding, while David Luiz’s future now appears uncertain.
